Called But Not Aggrandized1
As children of God, we all have a specific calling on our individual lives. Some of us know what that calling is and some of us have even accepted the calling. For those of us who have accepted our calling and have begun to walk in it, we must remember that we are called to serve, which means we must be careful not to let our calling “go to our heads”. Though we each have a different calling, no one calling is better than or more prestigious than the other…we each have a seat at the table of which God is always at the head. Our individual calling may set us apart (not to be confused with separate), but it will never set us above our brother/sister. We are all equally important and uniquely special in God’s kingdom. My brother/my sister the gift to serve is one of the greatest gifts that God bestows upon us…so it is very important that we do not allow ourselves to become a megalomaniac2; humility is the key here! And so it is…
