Choosing Light (Joshua 24:15)
All of life is choice. Choosing exists on every plane there is. Therefore, this human experience is certainly one that is defined by choice. Out of infinite wisdom, God created the Universe such that there will always be balance, which means that everything that exists has an opposite. So, just as God created light, in keeping with the balance of the Universe, God also created its opposing energy…darkness.
As we ponder the meaning of light and dark, we can apply literal meanings and/or figurative connotations to either word. Either way, they both are forces between which we can choose in every moment. God created us as children of light, so it is our natural birthright to choose and operate in that light; however, because of free will and balance, the opposite choice is always available.
When we choose light, we choose the: power, love, wisdom and life that we are. Of course choosing darkness would be choosing the opposite of all those things. “…Choose you this day [which] ye will serve….” (Joshua 24:15). As always, the choice we make defines the life we live. And so it is…
