Excellent does not even begin to scratch the surface of the amazing impact and message that “The Woman King” reverberates!!! After seeing the movie, I’m reminded of the resilience by which our people continue to rise despite the many attempts that our counterparts make to annihilate us and rape us of our culture. What I need you to know is that the black blood coursing through our veins gives us access to a limitless power that ensures our victory no matter how many of us choose to buy into the lie that one life takes precedence over another or even those of us who have become disconnected from who we are and where we come from…and if you need examples, I’ll start with one of the most influential, powerful, pervasive BLACKS that walked this earth…Jesus Christ and down generations to Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglas, Langston Hughes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and most recently President Barack Obama. In the epic words of one of our fallen SHEROS Ms. Maya Angelou, “STILL WE RISE”!!!
